MJP @ The Shepherds

From July 1st some of you may have seen that we took over the Ancient Shepherds in Fen Ditton. We are now in the process of refurbishing the Shepherds in order to relaunch as MJP@TheShepherds, restaurant, lounge and rooms.

We will be continuing the delivery side of MJP@Home for the foreseeable future. This has been key to continuing as a business and is now a vital part of our operation going forward. Even when we open fully, this will still be an option for those who wish to enjoy our food at home!

After today’s announcement from the Prime Minister, we are pleased to say that from July 9th we will have limited opening of the garden at the Shepherds to allow alfresco dining. This decision has not been taken lightly, and the safety of our staff and customers is paramount.

MJP @ Home

Pickup or to-door delivery

In order to help everyone in this challenging environment, we are offering a pickup or to-your-door delivery service of delicious food prepared by Mark in our restaurant kitchens, for you to eat at home.

We are now taking orders for delivery on Thursday 13/08/2020.

Dishes are individually priced, or you can have 2 courses for £15, or 3 courses for a bargain £18.50 - that's probably cheaper than your Chinese takeaway from those other Delivery people!

The menu will change weekly, and there are three starters and mains to choose from (so you could book something for the whole weekend!)

The food will keep in the refrigerator for up to four days, and is also freezable. Instructions are provided with your order.

We are also striving for zero-waste, and any left-overs will go to a different ward team at Addenbrookes Hospital each week.

Birthdays? Anniversaries? Or you just want to make someone smile? Get in touch and ask us to deliver a meal on your behalf to someone in Cambridge and we will make it happen.

Menu for delivery on Thursday August 13th

Starters | £6 each

  • Ham hock terrine, pineapple and chorizo jam
  • Smoked mackerel and beetroot salad, almond
  • Pea soup, chive oil (v)

Main Course | £12 each

  • Chicken and mixed pepper jalfrezi, basmati rice
  • Slow roast topside of beef, gratin potatoes, glazed green beans
  • Vegetable lasagne, mixed herb salad (v)

Dessert | £5 each

  • Steamed sponge pudding, lemon custard

Wine | £12 bottle

  • Verdejo ‘Mesta’ organic, Uclés, Spain 2018 12.5%
    A crisp, aromatic wine showing great purity of aromas with fresh notes of pineapple, fennel and white pepper
  • Garnacha, ‘Dama De Roca’, Cariñena, Bodegas Paniza, Spain 2018 14%
    Vibrant aromas of ripe brambly fruits. Juicy on the palate with hints of spice and vanilla.

How to order

Delivery will be available within a 3 mile distance from the cookery school, and these meals require pre-payment (via BACS) and pre-ordering at least 24h in advance - or as far ahead as you like.

Upon booking we will give you a time slot (we will try to keep to these slots, but if anything should change we will let you know by phone.)

MJP@TheShepherds Hot Food

From Monday 1st June we will be operating our MJP@Home offering from the Ancient Shepherds, Fen Ditton - soon to be known as MJP@TheShepherds.

As we will have more flexibility to what we can offer, we are expanding our offering to include some hot food collections after we have made our usual deliveries!

From Friday the 5th June we will be offering the following for collection only from the Ancient Shepherds, Fen Ditton.

Friday 126th June – Fish & Chip Friday

  • Classic fish, chips & mushy peas - £9
  • Portion of chips - £3
  • Portion of fish only - £7

Saturday 27th June – Burger night!

  • MJP Burger, lettuce, tomato, MJP burger sauce & chips - £9
  • Buttermilk chicken burger, sriracha mayo, lettuce & fries - £9
  • Garlic grilled mushroom burger, burger sauce, crispy onions & fries - £9

Sunday 14th June – Traditional roast

  • Slow roast topside of beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables & gravy - £12

How to order

We will be offering this on a pre ordered basis where each order will be allocated a 10 minute time slot for collection in order to comply with government guidelines.

These time slots will be between 17:30 and 20:00 and they will be given out on a first come first served basis.

Any order must be pre ordered and paid for by 22:00 the night before collection. Please email to place your order.
